Things To Do Forster Visitors Centre The Great Lakes Visitors' Centre is open seven days a week and is located in Little Street, Forster, adjacent the lake. You can contact them on (02) 6554 8799 or, toll-free 1800 802 692. It conducts bookings and can provide tourist maps, tide charts and fishing guides, and information regarding local attractions, eco tours, walking tours, accommodation, activities as well as cruises relating to deep sea fishing, dolphin watching etc.

The Beaches The Forster Tuncurry area has a number of beaches: Tuncurry Beach, offers surfing with a rock pool, kiosk, picnic area etc. Forster Beach, adjacent the southern breakwater in Forster is patrolled in season. The ocean baths are at its eastern edge. Pebbly Beach is the next beach along, which is another good surfing spot. The Tanks, an unusual rock formation where the waves spray water into a protected safe swimming area. One Mile Beach is another good surfing location, with a surf club, kiosk, showers and toilets. It is patrolled in season. Burgess Beach is a small and quiet beach accessed by a steep path off Burgess St. It has plenty of small rock cave formations. Bulls Paddock, which is part of Seven Mile Beach, south of Cape Hawke, also features excellent surfing. The Bicentennial Coastal Walk The Bicentennial Coastal Walk commences on our doorstep, passing over Pilot Hill joining Forster Main Beach and continuing past the ocean baths on Forster Beach. It leads eastwards over Second Head along the foreshore, between Bennetts Head Rd and the ocean, past The Tanks, through Bennetts Head Reserve and south past One Mile Beach to Burgess Beach.

Whale Watching and Coastal Scenery Forster offers throughout the year great opportunities to enjoy the passing parade of whales. Whale watching cruises are available within walking distance from us. If your sea legs are not up to a cruise you can take in some great coastal vistas. You may even see some whales and their calves close to shore from some of our coastal headlands (within season). If the whales aren't around our large families of dolphins residing in the area will keep you amused. Vantage points such as the Forster Breakwall and Second Head are great spots as well as our Marina. Cape Hawke Lookout Situated on top of Cape Hawke, this lookout gives visitors (those who are fit enough to climb it!) the best view of Forster/Tuncurry. It's not the easiest mountain to get to the top but if you take your time you will be rewarded on a clear day with a truly magnificent view stretching far across the twin towns.Views extend north, south, east and west as far as the eye can see! Krambach Mt George If you have had to much sun and feel like a drive grab a FREE map from reception and take in the scenery of the Manning River and surrounds. Country pubs, golf course, canoeing and kayaking, great bushland and Bass are just some of the things in the Mt George area.

Take a picnic and have lunch by the river. Boat, Canoe, BBQ, Pontoon, Paddle Boats A short walk from us and you will find a number of hirecraft outlets. Tiki boat shed is great and good coffee but there is another 5 or 6 options. You will find the boat hire outlets on Breckenridge Channel directly behind Wharf St.

Check in times, boat details, trip info.

Forster Beach Holiday Park is next to Forster Main Beach and the Forster Breakwall which are both ideal fishing spots.

If you plan on hiring a boat the oyster leases are a great spot for catching Bream and Luderick. Flathead can also be found throughout Wallis Lake. No need to go miles upstream, some of the best Flathead can be found in shallow water, making it safe and fun for the kids. Look for weed beds with a bit of current running past it.

If there happens to be some deep water nearby all the better. Whiting also show up throughout the year over the sand flats. Fishing with light gear is the way to go. Drifting seems to be the most popular way to pick up a feed, but don't disregard walking the sand flats with fresh bait or lures to catch all of the above. Beach fishing is very popular with some of the best beaches north and south of Forster on the east coast of Australia. Tailor, Mulloway, Bream, Flathead, Salmon, Whiting and a host of other species are available.

Deep Sea fisho's will find our Marina facilities and community boat ramp first class and within 200 meters of the park giving you access to the ocean, within 300 metres of the ramp. Charter boat operators are close at hand. Both within walking distance from the Park. Go to our Fishing Report to find out what's being caught this week. What is the best time? The best opportunities are the run out tide or the top of the tide, depending on what you are chasing but the runout seem's to be the most popular time. Be aware that the run out tide can be very strong and caution should be taken at all times when on the water.Try and put in time around late afternoon or early morning to maximise your chances.
